COUNTY JUNIOR COMPETITION - Sunday 8th March 2008

The County hosted an informal junior competition on Sunday 8th March at York University. The aim of this competition was to provide additional competition for players who are not getting the experience of competing at regional level.

The competition catered for teams of mixed age groups incorporating both U/14 and U/16 age bands.

Play on the day was of a very good standard and matches were well umpired. The competition ran very smoothly, and a good, competitive attitude evident throughout.

A total of five teams competed, each fielding a squad of approximately 10 players. Teams included Alpha (York), Phoenix (Harrogate – 2 teams), Spectrum (York – 2 teams).

Final Results were:

1st Place:Phoenix ‘Mix n Match’20 points

2nd Place:Alpha16 points

3rd Place:Spectrum ‘Lightening’13 points

4th Place:Phoenix ‘Pick n Mix’9 points

5th Place:Spectrum ‘Hurricanes’4 points.

Individual prizes were presented to:

Imogen Taverner (Spectrum) – most accurate shooter

Alice Trotter (Alpha) – Umpires’ fair play award

Sophie Marriott (Phoenix) – Team Managers’ fair play award.
