North Yorkshire would like to give Sue Hobson a massive congratulations on setting a new world record! The previous world record was that 756 goals scored in 1 hour and Sue absolutely smashed the record by scoring 1252 within the hour!

So had been training throughout lockdown,  then on 11th October, Sue took her netball to King James’s school to set her world record. Friends joined her, who cheered her on and supported her throughout, alongside Sharon H and Sharon C-B as official witnesses.

Sue completed this challenge for Saint Michael’s Hospice in Harrogate. At Saint Michael’s there are people who need extra support on top of the day to day care, those with a variety of terminal illnesses, including heart failure, respiratory illnesses, neurological conditions or cancer. These donations are vital in raising the £5million that is spent annually providing this care.

Sue has raised £1665.00 so far and this is continuing to rise. To donate to this amazing cause and congratulate Sue on her world record click here

Stage 4b of the Return to Play roadmap is now unlocked and we know many teams enjoyed being back on court together this weekend with the modifications and the COVID-19 risk mitigations in place. Thank you to all involved; restarting a league with everything in place is a huge achievement.

Further to the Government announcement on Tuesday 22 September with increased restrictions commencing from Thursday 24 September, we can now confirm that multiple groups of adults are permitted to train indoors as long as these bubbles of six do not mix and they continue to adhere to the limit of 30 per court. Modified netball matches are still not permitted for adults indoor. Find out more here.

On 9 July, the Government announced that some recreational team sports can begin to return and indoor leisure facilities can re-open their doors from 25 July. Read the full Government guidance here.

This guidance issued will allow us to see the gradual return of team sports, including netball. However, the speed at which some sports return will vary, for instance cricket will be one of the first sports back since it lends itself to being played whilst socially distanced and is a summer sport, so is well placed to return early.
