- The total cost of working towards the C Award will be about £55.00 ( £10 –written; £45- Practical)
- There will be an extra cost incurred for the Pre- Assessment Practical.
- Extra costs will also be incurred when attending a C Award Course.
- There are no pre- requisites for applying to take the C Award. However, England Netball recommends that a prospective C Award umpire should have the EN Into Officiating Award or a minimum of 2 years’ experience within Netball. The C Award Course is for those aged 14 years and over.
The process for completing the C Award is:
- Attend a C Award Course Details of Umpiring Courses within North Yorkshire will be sent out directly to Club secretaries via e mail and also advertised on this website. Complete the application forms as directed.
- Start to keep your Log Book of matches umpired Download the Log Book and record details of matches umpired.
- Pass Written assessment
The cost £10. The minimumsuccessful mark is 24/30. (This is made up of a minimum of17/20 in Section 1 and 7/10 in Section 2)
The C written Assessment is organised within the County.
Please check with the County Umpiring Chair to make arrangements to sit this paper when you are ready.
Download and complete the written paper application form and send it in with the payment.
Before you attempt to sit the C Award Written paper, you should prepare by using the practice papers and review the past papers to look at the types of questions and the appropriate way to answer the questions.
Review the rule book, signals and the application of the rules of the game.
Work with a mentor or another umpire to test your knowledge.
Pass Practical pre- assessment This will be arranged by County Umpiring Lead Contact her to arrange for a Pre-Assessment date.
Pass Practical assessment– The cost of the Practical Assessment is currently £45.

Assessments will be conducted on good standard school, junior or club matches.
Please note that an umpire must be 16 years of age or over to officiate an adult netball game.
