County performance and coaching
The Performance Pathway leads the talented young player towards the elite game.
Our Performance Programme is run in partnership with Leeds Rhinos and follows the England Netball Performance Pathway. It takes two cohorts: Under 13s, drawn from school years 7 and 8, and Under 15s, drawn from school years 9 and 10, with places for 20 athletes in each age group.
Selection is by trial. Trials run across two sessions: the morning assesses fundamental skills, and athletes who meet the standard are invited to stay for the afternoon.
Athletes selected onto the programme join North Yorkshire Netball Association through England Netball's Engage system and commit to weekly sessions on Thursday evenings at Harrogate High School, running from September through to April.
In addition to this we operate a coach mentoring team with level 1 and aspiring coaches working with our coaching team to develop their knowledge and skills.

Each stage builds on the last. The county association runs the first stages; regional and national opportunities are run by other organisations.

Playing regularly
Playing regularly with a North Yorkshire junior club and in the Junior League.
Every pathway starts with regular, enjoyable netball. Junior players join one of our member clubs and play in the U12, U14 or U16 Junior League.

North Yorkshire Netball is affiliated to and closely aligned with the Yorkshire Regional Netball Association, who offer competition opportunities to our member clubs if they wish to progress to the next level of player development and competition.

Getting onto the pathway
Talented young players are usually identified through their club and through junior league netball. Playing regularly with a member club is the first step.
